A Farewell from Tungutorg
As we write this in November 2025, we want to share a heartfelt update: Tungutorg will close at the end of this year.
The Tungutorg project was launched in 2008 by Stefán Briem. Over the years, Tungutorg has served as a bridge for translating to and from Icelandic, and as a way to explore the beauty of languages. We hope it has been both useful and enjoyable to you.
With the emergence of more advanced free translation services, a gradual decline in usage, and the passing of Stefán three years ago, we feel it is time to retire the site.
If you have any thoughts, feedback, or fond memories of using Tungutorg, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to send a message to the Tungutorg team here.
With warm regards,
The Tungutorg Team

The source text is copied or keyed into the frame. The size of the source text must not exceed 10000 characters each time. A longer text has to be cut into pieces of right size and then each piece submitted separately.
Public access to Tungutorg was opened on the Internet the 29th of March 2008, to be open for trial during one year. After that experience, extensive use and encouraging acceptance of the users, the operation of Tungutorg has been prolonged for indefinite period.
